2026 Singles Ladder

PURPOSES: Promote tennis in Pittsburgh, draw attention to the Schenley Park tennis courts, meet other tennis players, stay healthy, have fun.

PARTICIPATION REQUIREMENT: Minimum NTRP of 3.0

Proceeds will pay for prizes for the playoff champs, finalists and semi-finalists (in some cases), with the remainder contributed to the Schenley Park Tennis Association for association activities and improvements to the Schenley Park tennis facilities.

The Rules

Single match play only, best of three sets with regular seven-point tie-breakers. THIRD SET IS 10-POINT SUPER TIEBREAKER, UNLESS BOTH PLAYERS AGREE TO FULL THIRD SET.
This super tiebreaker conversion chart converts the tiebreaker score to a conventional set score (e.g., 6-3, 7-5, etc.):
11-9 or above (win by two points) = 7-6; 10-8 = 7-5; 10-7 = 6-4; 10-6 = 6-4; 10-5 = 6-3;
10-4 = 6-2; 10-3 = 6-2; 10-2 = 6-1; 10-1 = 6-1; 10-0 = 6-0

Play runs Saturday, April 11 to Sunday, September 6 (21 weeks); playoffs to be completed by the end of October, if possible.
Rankings and match results will be managed through laddero.com. The ranking system is viewable at the laddero.com site.
A player can challenge any other player on the ladder up or down. The day, time, and location of the match must be mutually agreeable. If there is a court fee it is to be split evenly between the two players. Both players must bring an unopened can of regular tennis balls. The winner gets the unopened can.
If a player is more than 15 minutes late their opponent may declare a forfeit and score the match 6-0, 6-0.
If play is suspended for any reason the match is to resume from the point of suspension. Any other arrangement must be agreed upon by both players.
If a player defaults during a match for any reason games will be added to the non-defaulting player to conclude the match in their favor. For example: Player A leads player B 6-3, 3-0 then player A defaults. Player B wins the match 3-6, 6-3, 6-0.
The winner should record the match score on laddero.com within 24 hours of the match. If there is an error in the scoring entry, please contact the ladder administrator at schenleyparktennisassociation@gmail.com to make a correction.
All players are expected to adhere to the USTA playing rules and the Code of Tennis
All players who qualify will compete in the playoffs. Each playoff bracket consists of 32 players—the top 32, then the next 32, and so on, as determined by the laddero “Total Points” ranking at the end of the season. There may be slight deviations in seeding to ensure that as many players as possible play in the first round.
