Watershed Issues - Panther Hollow Lake

The MON Water Project’s Annie Quinn recently announced that the Department of Public Works (DPW) has agreed to take the lead on the future Restoration of Panther Hollow Lake. The Acting Director, John McClory, is currently developing the 2027 City of Pittsburgh Budget DPW Departmental recommendations, and he has proposed including a Master Plan for Panther Hollow Lake restoration in its line items. 

A master plan is the needed link between the 90% historical stormwater project design and the future lake restoration project.  A master plan will: evaluate dam safety regulations and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) permitting requirements; research and compile reports/studies on the lake from across city departments/agencies/stakeholders; review and revise previous stormwater-centered designs; and host community engagement meetings, as required by its historical preservation designation.

Mon Water Project is calling on its coalition of partners to show our support.

Friends of Schenley Park has already signed onto a joint letter of support from Mon Water Project and many local organizations that was submitted to the Capital Program Facilitation Committee at the end of June . BUT- additional letters of support from individuals are welcome and will play an important role! Please feel free to use as little or as much language from this template as you like. The deadline for submission is August 15. Please stay tuned, for as this funding proposal moves through the budget process, more letters to different entities will be needed.
